3-D models of the field straw chopper were constructed and the wind fields were simulated by CFD. The turbulent flow pattern and SIMPLE algorithm were used in the wind simulation. The basic laws of structure parameters such as the width of knife handle, the height of the stubbles, the distance between the knife and shell, the height of front and back and side wind outlets that affected the wind field were obtained. These laws provided a basis for designing the chopper.
