Using 3-D rigid-viscoplastic finite element method, the multi-stage forging process of a gas turbine compressor blade was simulated. Through the simulation, the deformed geometries of billet, the distributions of temperature and strain, and the forging load have been obtained. The results of practical tests showed that the technical design of multi-stage forging of compressor blade is reasonable, the die cavity design is accurate and the numerical simulation is effective. The study is of significance to the engineering application of multi-stage forging of gas turbine compressor blades.
